all about Tom

Hi! I’m Tom, and I’m here to guide you in uncovering the person who lies underneath the stress, emptiness, and uncertainty. I’m here because I know that feeling of life coming unthreaded. I know that inescapable sense that things will never change. I know how isolating and painful it can be.

I also know how ineffective it can be to try to analyze away your problems - sometimes you can see so clearly what isn’t working, but nothing seems to change.

As humans we’re so much deeper and complex than we give ourselves credit for. We’re not just thinking creatures. We’re embodied, we’re social, we’re spiritual. My work with clients isn’t about creating new explanations for what’s not working - it’s about meaningfully shifting how you experience the world. It’s about presence, depth, and compassion for all parts of you.

how I work

I think of our work together as a journey through a forest. Maybe you’ve been wandering without a trail, or on a path that you realize is headed the wrong direction. You’re not where you want to be, and you don’t quite know where to turn - it can feel helpless.

But in therapy you’re not alone, and while there’s a natural urge to find a new path as soon as possible, together we pause to take a breath and ground ourselves in where you are in the present moment. Because transformation isn’t just about knowing where you want to go, it’s about truly knowing where you are right now.

So we slow down, look around, and really take it all in. We create the space to listen to all of your innate sources of wisdom: sensations in the body, memories, intuition, spiritual connections, thoughts and images. I’ll often encourage you to close your eyes so you can really settle into what’s happening inside. How do you experience that emotion in your body? Is there a memory that naturally arises here? An image in your mind's eye? A belief about yourself?

This is how we allow your new path to organically unfold, by creating a sacred space to listen to your deepest self. We begin to discover what’s been missing—maybe for a very long time -and the next step on the path becomes eminently clear.
